To keep your pass active, the Rail Planner app needs to be open and online at least once per 24 hours. If you wait longer, then the pass will become inactive, but will become active again once it's online again.
This has nothing to do with any reservations you may have booked. Also note that it is not necessary to activate your pass to book reservations.
